failure

Failure refers to the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective, and may be viewed as the opposite of success.
I totally feel the opposite of success on my project 31 goal. I guess I did make a very strong commitment to a project as such an inexperienced blogger. But hey, at least it got me into knowing my type of blog style. Im definitely not the type to blog everyday...(unless its something really EXCITING!)
Im not about to blog about something unless it truly has meaning to me (in other words, Im not going to answer one of the project 31 questions just to say I answered the question. Im only going to do it if it truly means something to me). Now, please dont take this wrong, as I am not bashing the bloggers who do post everyday or who do answer all the questions in a blog project, all Im saying is its just not me.
Im going to try to play catch up on whats been going on in my life the past few weeks. But Ill make it easy on everyone and divy it up between a few posts, otherwise you'll end up feeling like your reading a novel. ;)

mix of emotions

so I feel like Im a complete mess today, emotional, crying, angry. And its all because I want to start a family of my own. You would think this would be a happy time, something to look forward to, but I feel like Im in a constant state of waiting. I dont want to say that my husband and I are are two separate pages, because were definitely not. We both want to have kids, the question is more along the lines of "When." Im hoping by writing this, I can help sort out my emotions.

Before we were married, we constantly talked about having kids. And it wasnt even me who brought it up the majority of the time. He always did, he was the one who wanted kids before we even got married. I always told him that I wasnt against having kids if I happen to get pregnant on accident before we were married, but that I wanted to try to do things the right way; the ol'
first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage
We agreed on this, and also the fact that I wanted to graduate college before getting married. So in the back of my mind, I always thought that it would go quite fast.
Graduation. Wedding. baby
Well I guess I was wrong in my theory, things change, majorly, and Im not really sure why.

Literally 4 days after my graduation party, while on a cruise, he proposes. Of course I say yes, hello?!?!? this is what Ive always wanted. Then we hit a rough patch. We separate for a couple of months. Both trying to figure out what we want with our lives. In the end, we knew we couldnt live without each other and wanting to spend the rest of our lives together. Fast Forward 1.5 yrs later. Were married. We've bought our first house. Everything seems to be back on track. During our honeymoon we have "the talk."

We agree, a few things need to be worked on the house first. He says he thinks we should wait until we completely finish the renovations on the house. And he doesnt think its safe to have a pregnant women in a house filled with dust and new paint. I agree but tell him, that could mean forever. We are always going to want to do something to the house. That there is always going to be something stopping us. He also agrees, or, now that I think about it, maybe he was just agreeing to move the conversation along. We talk some more. We make a compromise. The kitchen has to be remodeled before we start trying. I ask how long he thinks this will take. "4-5 months" ok. Then its a deal, in 4-5 months, when the kitchen is done, we can officially start. We get home from our honeymoon, and a few weeks later we receive a notice from the insurance company.
Roof has to be replaced by November 2011 or your policy is canceled
Can you say BRICK WALL? Ok, so I do have to admit, we knew that we were going to have to fix the roof when we bought the place. But we didnt think it was going to be mandatory by a particular deadline. I look at him. "Does this mean other things need to be pushed back?" he answers with what I know is the answer but dont want to hear, "Yes."

Now little did he know, that I applied for a casting/blogging gig to journal our path to conception, beginning April/May (perfect timing for our original plan). But I havent heard back from them, so I think nothing of it. Rewind to 2 days ago. I get a call from the company. They loved my little application video (yes I know I sound a little corny). They think that its a perfect match because of the things that are going on with our life. Alot of newlyweds face the same issues, buying a new house, starting a family, etc and have to put things off for a number of reasons. They offer to give me a video recorder to do vlogs, a stipend for my time, and an endless supply of pregnancy test and ovulation kits. All for me just recording my journey to starting a family. It sounds like alot of fun to me.

I decide to tell my husband last night about the gig. I was extremely nervous to even bring the subject of babies up. I dont know if Im the only one is this boat, but I feel its a hard subject to bring up, especially when its something you want so badly,  yet are scared of the other persons response. His first response is "So now because someone is paying you, you want to go out and have a baby?" My heart crushes, I get angry, is he serious? He thinks thats why I want a baby? Does he not know me at all? Has this not been something we have both wanted? For a LOOOOOOONG time? We go through everything that needs to be done again. The roof (obviously) and the kitchen.

I know I sound like a brat, but my argument is "But how long is that going to take?" Does he not remember that one of the reasons I agreed to the whole kitchen being done first, is because he said it would be 4-5 months? So how much longer do I have to wait. Ive been constantly bugging him to get the roof started. We have 2 estimates coming in this week. They say they can get the roof done in a weeks time, but we have to decide if its worth it to pay someone to do it, or do it ourselves. Its alot of work if we do it ourselves, and then wouldnt come with a warranty. But if we pay some one its double the price. And on top of that, I have to give the company an answer about doing the gig.

Needless to say, we went to sleep without hardly saying a word to each other last night. He says he feels pressure all because I want to do the gig. I try to tell him, that isnt the reason I want to do it. And technically speaking the company says its fine if the first few months are about us holding off to finish the house work. But the bigger picture is, I want to start a family. I thought he did too. Now it doesnt seem like it.  I know its the more responsible thing to do to wait till everything is done, but we could be waiting forever. And what happens if we have trouble trying to conceive? Then that could be forever too. And seriously? Like theres never been a pregnant woman who gets their house remodeled? Hell, both our mothers moved to new house during their 3rd trimester with the two of us. And plus, if we start trying, even if I do get pregnant on the first try (highly doubtful), we still have 10 months after that to finish the kitchen.

Im so confused right now. I dont know if I should be angry with him thinking that way. Happy with him for trying to be responsible. Sad because I long for a family of my own. Anxious to get the house down.

day 7: shes deserves more than she thinks

We may not have the same personalities or the same goals in life, but my sister deserves so much more than she will ever allows herself. She is a beautiful woman, both inside and out, constantly putting other before herself. She is a loving wife, nurturing sister, thoughtful daughter, and absolutely wonderful mother to two precious children.
She is always trying to help everyone she knows, even if it is the littlest things like spending the entire day at my house cleaning because she knows I am so busy. And thats without me even having to ask her to do it.
If I could give her a few words of encouragement for her, this is what they would be:
When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place.
Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do.

Dear Teenage Me,
I know you cant wait till your grown up, and to make your own rules, but these are the good days.
I know how important school is to you, but always remember that in the end, you'll remember the memories you made and not whether you earned a "B" instead of an "A" in chemistry.
Spend time doing the things you love, like playing softball and hanging out at the beach, because by the time you are my age, youre not going to have as much free time to do these things.
Dont rush into getting your first job, trust me, you are still working at the same place almost 10yrs later on the weekends.
Please go to New Jersey every chance you get, you want realize how much you miss your grandparents until theyre gone.
Your going to go through a couple heartbreaks, it may be with the same person, but know its all worth it in the end.
Ill leave you with a verse from a Trace Adkins song:
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

day 5: my heart beats a lil faster because of you

better late than never... heres my day 5, youll get to see day 6 a little later today.

God how I miss this woman. When I think of Emma (my maternal grandmother), all I can think is that I wouldnt be the woman I am today without her. She taught me so many things, she made me believe I could do anything I wanted in life as long as I gave it my best. She taught me how to be "thrifty" (ok most would say I got my cheapness from her lol) but also how to behave like lady. I remember running around the house in her high heels pretending to be a waitress just like she used to be. Who knew I would end up in the restaurant business myself?

She was the only woman to this day that I know who could drink a keg to herself, smoke a pack of cigarettes a day, and "garden" (we all know its landscaping when its 21 acres of land) in her 6 inch heels. She had the oddest little remedies for everything. To her garlic would solve any problem you had.

I regret not getting married sooner so she could be at my wedding. I regret not having kids sooner so they could meet her. They would have loved her, and she would have adored them.

I know I get sad thinking of her not being with us anymore, but I can truly say that my heart beats a little faster when I think of all the good memories I have shared with her. I miss her everyday, and if shes reading this up there, I hope she knows how thankful I am for everything she has every done for me.

I have many favorite outfits. And my style is every changing, just ask my hubby about our closet. But the dress I wore to our rehearsal dinner, and again on our honeymoon is by far my favorite dress I own (besides my wedding dress, but when am I ever going to wear that again?). It made me feel glamorous and I cant tell you how many compliments I got at dinner that night.
I cant wait for the next occasion I can wear this to!

day 3: nennie-poo

My niece is at that age right now where playing dress up, running in the grass, and batting her long lashes will make everyone wrap aroundthat little finger of hers. I hate to admit being one to fall for it, but I absolutely adore her. Granted, if she misses a nap or you dont let her change into her fourth dress that day, she may get a little crabby.
But spending the day with her put a huge smile on my face. Last weekend I watched her while my sister went to a bachlorette party the entire day. She went to 2 different bookstores with me, and Ill tell you what, the two of us could have spent hours there. Then we came home, played dress up with the Oliva toy she hoodwinked me into buying her at Barnes and Noble (hence the red bows in my hair in above picture)
I also thought it would be a great idea to take her to a new frozen yogurt shop down by the beach I heard about. We pull up and she instantly remembers that the parking lot we are in is the one we park at to go to Hoffmans Ice Cream (not the one I was planing on going to). After ice cream it was time to go back home. And yes that would be the second dress in her arms for the day.
We ended the day by baking raspberry bars in my kitchen. It makes me so happy to think that one day I will have a little girl of my own. And hopefully I she will be just as sweet and adorable as my nennie-poo.

day 2: just me

I am no size 4, I am taller than most, and both my pinky toes point out to the side from being broken so many times. I am clumsy, forgetful, and sometimes stubborn (maybe more than sometimes, but Ill never admit it). I am shy and quiet, until I get to know you, then most will tell you I dont shut up. I love telling stories with way too much detail and enjoy listening to stories just as much. I am responsible and hardworking, but love to relax and just enjoy this ride we call life. I am creative and come up with the most elaborate projects in which I normally procrastinate starting. I am driven and determined and enjoy things going my way. I dream, I wish, I love, I hate, I am me.

There are so many things in this world that make me the woman I am today. Some unique, some not so unique. But I wouldnt change any of it.........ok maybe some of it, but I dont regret any of it.

day 1: beauty

I feel so bad for having already slacked off on my project 31 posts, but yesterday was such a busy day at work that I was absolutely exhausted afterward and just wanted to relax with my hubby and friends. Now this isnt to say that I didnt think about the first day of my blog challenge, I just wasnt able to type and post last night. So here it goes.

While thinking about what beauty meant to me, I of course thought of the cliche quote of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." And then I really thought about this, and it completely makes sense. I used to think that beauty was all about makeup, fashion, being skinny, the kind of car I drove, the jewelry I wore. And now when I think about beauty, I think more about how it makes me feel (although I do still love getting dressed up).
A beautiful day outside makes me feel alive.
A beautiful child makes me wonder the person that child will become.
A beautiful dress makes me long for a romantic night with my new husband.
A beautiful smile makes me think of how wonderful life can be.
A beautiful bouquet makes me adore the sweet smell of flowers.
A beautiful rain makes me feel sleepy and yearn for a cozy day in bed.
And a beautiful life makes me thank God for all that I am fortunate to have.
