show & tell: when i was 17
man I cant believe I was 17 almost 10 years ago! crazy how time flies when your having fun!
1. When you were 17, tell us what kind of car you drove, where you worked, and what you were usually up to on the weekends.
I drove my sisters hand-me-down 97 teal Saturn. The sun roof leaked, like majorly, and the air conditioning didnt work. Remind you, I live in South Florida, where a) its hot all the time b) its extremely humind and c) during hurricane season, it rains, ALOT. So try having a car with no A/C and a sunroof that leaks. When it rained the back floorboard would fill with rain water and because it was raining I couldnt have the winds down, plus no A/C made it smell incredibly bad. Needless to say, that summer I got my first job so i could save up and buy a new car.
Said first job, was as a hostess at a seafood restaurant on the beach. I actually really enjoyed my job and loved where I worked, so much so, that I stayed there through college and began waitressing, then became a bookkeeper on the weekends, then got promoted to a manager, then started bartending there for extra money. I only recently stopped working there about 2 months before Matthew was born. Which means I was there for close to 11years. Im still really close with the people who work there and go visit often. Oh and my mom still works there too, she does the bookkeeping I used to do. :)
Usually on the weekends you could either find me working (i really wanted a new car) or at the beach with friends, or at hubbys house (boyfriend at the time hehe).
2. Show us a picture of you when you were 17 {roughly}.
3. When you were 17, tell us what you wanted to be when you "grew up."
I really wanted to be a fashion designer. It was my dream to move to New York and become successful at designing clothes! Then i realized, it was highly unlikely that I would become rich doing this with the amount of fashion designers already out there. So I decided, really as long as I could design something I would be good. Today I am a graphic designer!
4. When you were 17, tell us the kind of boys that you dated. Did you have a type? Do you have a relationship you remember well? Tell us about it.
Well, technically I really only "dated" one boy, my hubs! :) hes my highschool sweetheart! but i guess you can say there were a few "flings" that I had. All of which were baseball players, and i guess coincidentally they were all the "bad boy" types lol. And yes, hubs falls into both of these categories as well. ;)
5. When you were 17, tell us where you pictured your life 10 years from then. Did it turn out the way you expected it to?
In my mind, since i had been with my hubby for so long, i had told myself that i wanted to get engaged at 20, married at 21 (you know so i could drink at my own wedding lol), pregnant at 21, first kid at 22. All the while, I would have a degree and be at least on my way to being successful with my career. We got engaged the day before my 23rd birthday, married at 24, pregnant at 25, first kid at 26. And although I cant say we are rich, i do believe we are both on our ways to very successful careers. So ever though It didnt turned out exactly how I had expected, I would change it for the world!

ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post! I've just found your blog and I love it. Will be going through your posts and reading them all now :) Just added you to me feed too! My love and I have been together for 9 years, engaged for 6 years and hopefully getting married in the next two years when our little one's are a bit older.
